Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp

Introduction
cuisinart cpk17 temperature controlled kettle

Cuisinart exists since the early 1970s and became successful and famous with high-end food processors.
Since then the range of products has broadened considerably and includes now temperature controlled kettles as well.

The slender stainless steel heater comes in the traditional kettle design. Not very exciting but shapely for every kitchen countertop.

There is a window to check the water level, and a blue light indicates when the kettle is on.

Cuisinart allows six preset temperatures, sufficient for most uses.

The kettle comes with a 3-year limited warranty. The limitations are not obvious but seem to concern mainly commercial resellers.
For “normal customers” it is crucial to register your purchase with Cuisinart to avail of the warranty (registration card is included).

How does it work?

To fill the kettle press the button at the top of the handle to open the lid. Boiling time is about 7 minutes.

The temperature control is part of the handle and comes with six preset buttons.
You press the required setting, hit ‘start’ and off it goes.
The starting point is 160°F/71°C which is low enough for most purposes.
Only certain teas require a lower temperature (read more about tea brewing temperatures in our informative blog here).

A very helpful feature is the internal memory function. It remembers your last temperature setting for two minutes when you remove the kettle from the base.
There is also a ‘sleep mode’ in which all lights and the heater are off. The kettle comes back to life by pressing any button or by lifting it off the base and returning it.

Price

The price for this Cuisinart CPK-17 kettle has been stable and pretty much the same across all online retailers.

The Cuisinart kettle is suitable for a $$ budget.

The Good, the Bad, and the Conclusion

Pros

  • 3-year limited warranty with the manufacturer.
  • Good temperature range.
  • Memory function for temperature settings.
  • Can be combined with other kitchenware from Cuisinart.
  • BPA free.

Cons

  • More suitable for a bigger budget.
  • 160°F/71°C might not be low enough for tea lovers.

Conclusion

Cuisinart CPK-17 is an excellent choice with everything you expect from a high-end variable temperature kettle.
By buying other Cuisinart products, it allows you to match the look and feel of your kitchenware.
Even if you don’t, you still pay for the option.

If you are not so keen on the temperature control, Cuisinart also produces an identical kettle without this feature (just a normal kettle). It used to be called Conair (yes, like the movie with the pumped up Nicolas Cage). Not sure about the name, but you can check it out here.

Entirely beside the point: I cannot get used to the weird pronunciation of the companies name: Cuisi-nart?!

I like this kettle. Im a lover of ledlights and functions, so it is made for me. I will show it to my wife, since she isn't so much into that. We need. A kettle, since our last one blew up, yes it blew up, don't ask me how that happened. Thanks a lot for sharing it with us.

Cuisinart is indeed a well-known very good brand.  If you want quality, the price is not a problem.  In fact, for what you get, it appears to me that the price is good.

The dripless spout and all the other features look extra-special.  It's a nice kettle.  I don't quite understand why you say that the water temperature might be too hot for tea drinkers...there is that chart of different temperature settings.  It seems to me that if you follow that you would get exactly the temperature you needed.

Thanks. Some teas (like Matcha, Gyokuru) requirer a brewing temperature below the 160°F/71°C. For all other teas and purposes, the kettle is adequate.

This is an excellent kettle to me. I like products of great quality and this Cuisinart CPK-17 seem to me like a product that would be of excellent utility to me. I like the Led light as it is a plus point for me. But I really do hope I can convince my family to get this because I am not the one in charge of making the buying decisions of kitchen equipments but altogether, I like the product.
